Spilt candle wax all over my desk…

The time is 01:12 and I just spilt candle wax all over my darn desk.
This was first published as a post on Tumblr. I quite like the tags function there so I am considering leaving one at the end of posts from here on out. Maybe. Anyways, the one below is what originally appeared on the Tumblr post:

Context
I was suffering a bout of insomnia and so, in my quest to aesthetics-maxx, decided to light a candle in my room and read a book to sleep. This endeavour failed as my bedside table is, due to forces beyond my locus of control, on the foot end of my bed and the light does not reflect off my pages well enough. All in all, I just couldn’t read.
In my infinite wisdom, I determined that the most optimal course of action would be to go to the living room, where the family computer (i.e., my desktop computer) rests, and chill there for a bit and consume some fun YouTube videos. Thinking it would be a waste to not have my candle provide ambient lighting, I propped the damned thing onto a book (because ‘twas too hot for my fragile fingers) and sought to bring it over to my desk. It was in the middle of this journey that I realised I may have effed up.
The Frick Up
Holding my phone with one hand and the book on which the candle sat with the other, I hobbled over to my computer table - feeling the molten candle wax sway with the book whenever I took a step. A master of balance and obviously filled with unwarranted hubris, I thought I could gently lower the book onto the desk without the wax tipping too much.
Boy was I wrong
It spilt. Luckily, the flame did not consume all the contents of my desk and drawers and later the whole block of flats. The candle did, however, let its juices run all over various pages and leaflets and sticky notes. Cleaning this up was not going to be fun. And it wasn’t. That bit’s not important right now..
The Consequence
Because I have wax all over some of my beautifully handwritten paper notes, I have decided to post their contents here in order to immortalise their memory (and save my wrists from tediously rewriting things by hand).
These next couple of posts will be about technology, my stance on it, my personal guiding principles on its use, and some ways in which I implement this. Looking at this list now, I figure I will be able to consolidate the bulk of the waxen notes into one post. Perhaps. We shall see, but should you not wish to see I recommend you perhaps skip this page a while.
