Oh Frabjous Day! Callooh! Callay! (To Be Annotated)

Taha Warraich on 8 Nov 2025

I am so very glad to see you visit, oh you most wonderful and exalted guest!

I know, I know - it is barren and bereft of any real material or professional polish. However, I beseech you give it a chance to prosper and grow, in the fullness of time (and keeping in mind my limited capacity for being arsed).

This Website's Raison d'Etre

Aim

I aim to one day make this site my sole - or at the very least main - mode of interaction with the digital world.

The Catalyst

I feel that social media, especially as of late, has metamorphosed into a wasteful, empty time suck. I don't know about you but I seem to find myself way too often drawn into the likes of TikTok and Instagram Reels (though, thankfully, not YouTube Shorts). Maybe it's a skill issue? Regardless, I just no longer want to engage in it.

Current Offering

This website will, hopefully, present some basic avenues for contacting me and serve as an archive for some of my written ideas. Perchance.

My Journey Here

Over the course of the long and arduous journey making it all the way over here, I have done a great many things.

When I was younger, I would tinker with the likes of Wix and Wordpress.com, creating websites for school projects (such as my secondary school's science journal. Early on in the Summer of 2025, after having only recently just graduated with my LLB in Law, I tried to follow along to Luke Smith's (of lukemsith.xyz) tutorial on creating a website with nginx and - while I succeeded in actually crafting and conjuring the site, I failed spectacularly at scaling it up. Undeterred, I attempted to create a static site through Jekyll. In this, I was successful. However, my brain started hurting too much and I didn't understand how I would scale this up. I quickly uploaded all my articles and pieces to my Tumblr site (which I still keep as my material archive in case I f up this project too). I then got busy with an internship and a summer job. And, over the course of all this business, I forgot all about my internet ambitions :(

This (hopefully final) iteration was inspired by some YouTube videos on neocities which popped up on my feed (which I will hopefully find and link one day). I browsed some other neocities (see which ones I follow for an idea of them) and thought suboptimal.neocities.org was particularly cool. They had stated their design was largely based on Tufte CSS, and - after digging through what the default stylesheet looked like - I was hooked.

I tried to make this website organically, using my own two hands. I really, really did. But, as anyone who has started a grand new project knows, it is hard. I am a non-technical (former) Law student. Technology does not come easily to me. The extent of my technical knowhow has only extended to maining Linux Mint as my distro of choice (with some escapades in Arch but only through the archinstall script) and, quite frankly, I had spent too long already on trying to learn tech. I have not, however, given up.

While I shamefully admit the use of certain AI tools in developing the layout for this website, I will not let that stop my desire to learn. After I take a break from tinkering, perhaps get a job, and return to a clean and fresh mind, I will endeavour to learn the building blocks of HTML and CSS and redo this website organically - just how the good lord intended.

In the meantime, I can only offer my sincerest apologies and reiterate my desire to do better. Until then, please remain assured that no part of the actual content of my writings uses AI and everything is first jotted down using paper and pen before being transcribed into the HTML lifeblood of each page. The bits and bobs of AI I have used to conjure this homepage are minimal and - should you inspect the source on any part of this page - you can see it has been utilised somewhat thoughtfully to ensure I will not use it again (by including comments and annotations which will help me truly learn instead of just blindly follow directions).

Goodbye, for now

Until that fateful day when this website is no long barren and bereft of material, this is all a work in progress.

I hope you enjoy the proccess

P.S. If you find anything non-functional or another issue, please contact Taha and he shall have a word with the elves whom maintain these ethereal planes within the vast interwebs.

P.P.S. Yes, I really did refer to myself in the third person there.
